About the Map
The map shows the Byzantine Empire at the height of its size just before the death of Justinian and Belisarius. The map stretches from the southern Iberian coast across the Mediterranean, all the way to the edge of the caucasus mountains and down to the levant. Within these borders you will find important cities, towns, provinces and rivers that have been labelled in their old names. Surrounding the empire's borders you will find labelled seas and Oceans alongside numerous kingdoms and peoples. You will find that these kingdoms and peoples have also been given their own section with more bits of information fleshing out the Eastern Roman world.
Looking closer at the map you will find the story of one of the greatest roman generals in history Flavius belisarius. This follows his two most famous and important campaings against the Vandals and the Ostrogoths retaking much of the former Western Roman Empire
This however was a short lived peak and not long after the death of Justinian the Byzantine Empire would begin the shrink and never again reclaim the lost Roman Empire. Due to this many would herald Belisarius as 'The Last Roman'.
